So
how do I install my new EZ?
To be
honest, I had planned on doing a long install paper with this article,
and including a bunch of pictures etc. I changed my mind.
This thing is so easy to install, that I felt it unnecessary to do
so. I'll give you the basics though. When
you receive the product in the mail, or via the carrier that your
shipper chooses, you'll be surprised at how small the box is, and how
simple it looks. It's just a small black box that shows the Edge
Products logo on the top, with a single harness that splits into two
directions. One connecter hooks into the data link plug, and the
other goes into the MAP sensor. My install took approximately 10
minutes. Very simple and easy! I was quite impressed.

I decided to put the
velcro on my box first, and attach it to the top of the fuse box under
the hood. The fuse box is located on the drivers side of the
vehicle, right behind the battery. Make sure you clean the
plastic cover of the fuse box before adding the velcro strips
provided. If you don't, the box can easily come off. I
recommend using a window cleaner first, then using an alcohol pad to
get off all grease and oil.
From this point, all you have to do is read the instructions.
They're laid out well, and they're easy to follow. If you do get
confused, or can't find something, call Edge Products and ask
them. Remember how I talked about their customer service?
Well, I assure you that you'll be satisfied with their support if you
need it. You
can get their contact information by going to their website, http://www.edgeproductsinc.com.

What does the boost
elbow do?
The boost elbow
provides the ability to obtain boost pressures in excess of 20 psi
without wastegate opening. This allows for lower egt's and a bit
more power. The EZ will operate fine with or without this elbow
installed.
For those who own
2001's with an automatic transmission, the wastegate is a solid
line. This means that you cannot install the brass elbow.
This should not adversely affect the operation of your truck, or the EZ.
You should have an EGT gauge installed. Hey, didn't I say that
before?

So what's the final
verdict?
DieselTruckResource.Com
gives the Edge EZ a 9 out of 10. Why the 9? I didn't see all
the power that the Edge Product's website shows, but I have to put some
of the blame for that on me. Like I stated before, I wasn't
perfect on the dyno. Not only that, I have an auto. I'm sure that
the gains will be better for those of you who have a manual.
Installation of this
box is VERY easy and you don't have to be a mechanic to take full
advantage of this product. You don't have any mechanical changes
to make except for the elbow, and the Edge EZ is easily removeable.
Why is that a plus? Always remember that you're your own warranty
station!
In closing...
If you're looking for
something that can give you an increase in power without going
overboard, this is the product for you. It's amazing to me how
simple it was, and I now have the towing power I want for those big
hills, and the Powerstrokes at the light!
Good job Edge
Products! You have a Gem here!
