Who plans on being at The Ranch this weekend besides me and RowJ? I'll be there Friday and all weekend.

Why Brian changes his own oil (slightly long):

Ok so the Jetta just sits too dang low to the ground and I am too lazy to get it in the air to change the oil.. Last oil change I took my Jetta, oil from my "supplier", filter, and sample bottle to Goodyear for a change.. Piece of cake did a good job. (Same place I used for my ball joints, A/C, and alignment for the Dodge... Trust the guys in there pretty well)

Fast forward to yesterday... Haven't seen my oil "supplier" for a while and mileage was about 12k on the oil so I bit the bullet and took the car to Goodyear to leave overnight so that they could change it today at their leisure. I told them probably 3 times to sound like a broken record that I wanted either a 5w30 or 5w40 synthetic diesel rated oil... Told me no big deal they will use a Mobile 1 product... Fine good enough..

Guy calls me today and tells me the car is ready... A bit uneasy still I asked what oil he used.. "Mobile 1 5w30 synthetic", cool diesel rated? "yes"... So I still felt uneasy so I pulled up Mobile 1 site and searched.. only 5w30 I found says not recommended for diesel engines... hmmm only diesel rated oil I found was 5w40... So I printed off both pages and brought them in with me at about 630 today... Asked again if the oil they used was diesel rated again and they said "yes and synthetic".. well I persisted and found out it wasn't diesel rated and I needed the 5w40 diesel rated in there...

They were really cool about it and were a bit embarrassed, even told me they have used that 5w30 on another Jetta... Oops

So I get to drive the truck to work again tomorrow... Bout $30 each day I have to drive it, so bout 60 extra bucks for an oil change cause I was lazy...

Figures......
