this is my first time with Generals--always have used Michlons. The michlons were not available in 235 16 75 , so went with them.
they are available now but for the price difference i would have to think hard about going back to them.

Only way to go towing heavy.

I agree there

I love duallies, but i dont tow often enough nor heavy enough to contemplate having one, once a week or so its good enough for me towing, and hills, nor weight, nor winds are much an issue for me...

Now if i towed heavy like i know a couple of my friends do, every weekend, then id consider it. But they are also a bear to park... but thats just a minor thing,

Rick

I absolutely LOVE my dually. I have had an '02, '03, and now my '06 Megacab. I recommend the American Force Wheels 22.5" package. My truck is stock height and no rubbing. The tires are 255/70/22.5 Sumitomo On/off road tires that will last over 200,000 miles! I can turn 75 MPH @ 1900 RPM in 6th so my gas mileage on the highway has gone way up; AND they look COOL AS HELL!

Keep in mind, I do not have the rear hub cap on (long story).

Just stating a fact that most of the people who said they had trouble hauling weight with a srw 2500 had short boxes? if you have a short box no matter what you tow your goin to get the you know what beat out of you while towing they were just not designed for that. I tow alot with a 2500 not heavy once in awile i gross out at 22k but i have had no problems at all with stablity seems soild as a rock to me? i was under the impression the 2500s with the tow and camper package were in a sense the srw 3500s? because of the ton over loads and the sway bar and the ton rear ends?

Have run dually trucks all the time. I just had the tires rotated again.
I have 30,000 miles on them or 50,000 kilometers and about half or a bit more is towing heavy. They are barely worn and what really amazes me is I left a few dually streaks on the street for a good distance and the shop was really surprised because they have seen me do the burnouts.

I run the TOYO HT's at 75 in the front and 70 in the rear and I swore by the Michelin before these. The Goodyears were done at 36,000 kilometers...terrible tires.

I really like those 22.5's I am hoping I see a long bed dually MC come along next spring.

If anyone is considering a Dually for towing I would say it is the only way to go. My wife got tired of hearing me say how much I liked this truck. It was a solid and stable ride, a real pleasure to drive. There was no side to side wandering, no fighting with the wheel to steer a straight course, and the truck just felt "safe". I liked our 2500 but when I was towing, driving it felt like work, if I took my eyes off the road for a second I was changing lanes.

All you Dually owners already know this but I just had the urge to post a thread for anyone who has a decision to make.

Go with the Dual rear wheels.....you won't be sorry.......
Not to knock duallys, but how much of you towing improvement was due to moving from the crappy steering of the 2nd gen to the vastly improved 3rd gen? 2nd gens aren't noted for being able to track a straight line.

Good point Bart Timothy....the rack and pinion steering on the 03 is much better, with or without a load. I think it's the whole package including the long wheel base.....the dual wheels are the icing on the cake.

I really like the idea that I'm well within the GVWR. with the dually. This way the wife can load up the trailer and there's no worries.

Very interesting, I have had both dually and single. My current 2500 I added Air Bags, Rear sway bar and 245x19.5 tires rated at 4800 lbs each. Handles a 14,000 5th wheel with ease. The heavy side walls on the 19.5's takes care of the sway from wind. I went this way because my wife drives the truck and with the dually keep running over curbs and had difficulty with the width. Seems to work as well as the dually and I only need 4 tires, but the cost more than 6 of the 17.

My 2 cents worth
