Why Nissan Titans shouldn't pull a 30'+ TT

Happened close to home. Don't know if he had weight distribution and/or anti sway control. Trailer was a 30 or 32 foot TT. Im my opinion way too large for the tow rig, a 1/2 ton Nissan Titan. Saw way too many people towing large bumper pulls this weekend with 1/2 tons. The trailer salesmen should be accountable!

i saw in one forum where the brakes were very substandard on those trucks, almost to the point of being unsafe when loaded.

anybody seen anything to correlate that?

i think what happened is indicative of what goes on in the world today - everyone is RIGHT ON THE EDGE of thier ability/speed/following distance/braking room.

and they leave no room for error. folks don't realize that loading a truck up to 95% of it's capability leaves them little room for error.

there's a camping trailer "built to the highest limit a Half Ton can pull" a guy told me (he was selling it) he said it was very desirable due to being big, but not enough to make you buy another truck....

FWIW, he had a brand new F-150 and that brand new 1/2 ton trailer for sale,
and had a brand new F-250 with a same size trailer that he just replaced those with.

he said he could take the ~$10k hit to have a higher margin of safety & drivability out on the road.

there's a subliminal message in there somewhere....

I'd have to agree...I think the salesmen are pushing a larger trailer than people or there truck can handle....see too many people in the campgrounds that can't tow there camper forward, let alone backing it up...

I saw a F-150 extended cab long bed towing a very large fifth wheel today, one of those tri-axle toy hauler ones....looked pretty scary. My first thought was "who the heck sold him that"

I like to get to the site early in the morning on Friday, that way were set up and ready to watch the show...(others trying to set up... ) The best is when someone tries to back up...We were all newbie’s at one point and I use to go give some tips and a helping hand but after a few people getting nasty with me I quit, now I just sit back with a beer and enjoy a good laugh...

Last labor day on are trip from Pa up to here(Me), on the one bridge there was a Dodge 1500 V8 Quad cab short bed flipped over with probably a 28fter on it, We were guessing a good bit of wide came acroos and it got lose on him and then it flipped over. The guy that delivered my Dad's skidloader(8500-9000lbs) about 4-5 yrs ago towed it with a early 90's f-150, He towed it from Illinois(sp?) to south eastern Pa,he also had a dixie chopper on the trailer. The skid steer was all the way forward with the dixie on the back,it was only a 16ft trailer, he pulled into my drive way and i was able to walk right on to the tailgate with out any effort, and the engine aslo had a little fire, once he dropped the loader off he still had to make a run to the Poconos to drop the Dixie off.

A guy I work with did that with his CTD!
29' bumper pull TT with 2 slides and a 95 reg cab 2wd auto.
50mph and a gust of wind tossed the rig one way, he corrected and the next thing he knew they were both on their side. Luckly no injuries (other than pride) the trailer was a total loss and the truck was fixed by the insurance company and still in use.

Talking

or for having to ride in Jap Crap on memorial day?
What country was your Ram built in?
I'm sure if it was Mexico, it is still a American made truck to you, right?

not saying that at all...

I totally agree, ultimately it's the driver at fault....but I think many times the salesman steps in and sells something that they know is too big for the rig/person to handle, and the person buying it doesn’t know any better....

"their truck was passed by a tractor-trailer, said Trooper John Taylor of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
James Fritsch, who was driving, lost control of the truck and ran into the median strip"

I think that says it all
