Who Makes a Good Cargo Trailer??

I'm looking to get an enclosed cargo trailer....tandem axle....probably 7'x16'x6.5'.

Something like one of these...

Question is....who makes a good trailer and what do I need to look for construction wise?? The two pictured above are Wells Cargo trailers.

Re:Who Makes a Good Cargo Trailer??

I think a lot of it depends on how you plan on using your trailer. We have an 18' all steel cargo trailer for work which has been hauled all over the country for the last 6 years--great trailer (I am not sure the type, but is from a local TX dealer. I can find out if you would like). We mainly use it to store field equipment. A number of things to consider though. We have a ramp and a set of double doors, and a passenger side front door, which works great for our uses. The steel trailer is much more durable, but also much heavier which makes for a bumpier ride when we are on the road (though we only use little chevy 3/4 gasser to pull them, they wont let me hook my personal vehicle up to it ). I believe if your are carrying any weight or doing any distance traveling, tandem is definately the way to go. Would you consider a GN?

If I get one I will definitely be getting a tandem. I don't like single axle trailers.

I'd definitely consider a gooseneck, but I don't think I need a trailer big enough to required a gooseneck. Probably either a 14' or 16' is the biggest I'd need, but I'd rather have the 16' just for the extra space.
Most have torsion axles which ride well and are preferred (by me) for highway use, but I'd consider leaf springs for a landscaping or construction trailer. Metal floors are nice but expensive.
I probably wouldn't need the leaf springs for what I intend to use it for. It would be all highway/street use.

I'll definitely look into used trailers too.

This is where our trailer is from. We have been happy with the trailer--not sure about the sale though.

You might try www.hhtrailer.com. I think they have a local dealer in the Dallas area.

My dad has one of thier dump trailers and has been very happy with it.

Re:Who Makes a Good Cargo Trailer??

We just bought a 30 foot Wells Cargo trailer as an EMS Emergency Response Support vehicle. Very well made but certainly not light weight. The folks at the factory in Indiana were great to work with.

Re:Who Makes a Good Cargo Trailer??

I'm not too worried about the weight. After all, I've got a Cummins. Besides that, I'm only looking for about 7'x16'...which won't weigh more than probably 2500 pounds empty.

Re:Who Makes a Good Cargo Trailer??

My Dad used to have a 14' Wells Cargo that we haul Harleys in. Well made and tows very easily. But toys got bigger and so did the trailer. We now have a 8'x8'x22' Millenium v-nose car hauler. Another very well made trailer.

Re:Who Makes a Good Cargo Trailer??

both H&H trailers and Pace American are very nice trailers. H&H tends to be a bit cheaper dollar wise and most of them come standard with the LED package, or atleast mine did

Re:Who Makes a Good Cargo Trailer??

Home Depot sells Pace American I think. $2000 for a 6X10 looks very nicely made. No brakes though.

Might want to try:

Re:Who Makes a Good Cargo Trailer??

Always had good luck with Haulmark trailers.
Pace American are good.
I don't know if they make them but Anderson makes a
very good equipment trailer. I would look into if they make a cargo trailer.

Just my .02

Re:Who Makes a Good Cargo Trailer??

I had a Wells Cargo 16'....it pulled great....I had the swing door model and if I were to buy another one I would get the rear ramp door type (better resale also)
Other option would be diamond plate floor and e-track on the floor and walls
