Where are you guys buying your air bags?

I have seen the Firestone's for my '03 around $240, ditto for the Air Lift units. Anyone got a hot secret on a less expensive set before I spend this amount? Ditto for the in-cab controllers? Thanks!

Thanks, but I was just looking for the regular old air bag helper springs like those from Firestone or Air-Lift.

I got mine at a local RV store in CA. Price is about right. You might want to re-think the in-cab controler, I've heard it's not that good...but that is just rumor...no personal experence with it.

Mike - Those are really really really nice!! Too rich for my blood, however

BD - I haven't heard that rumor. Care to divulge what you've heard? I'm looking at either the in-cab controls or the automatic leveling system.

My uncle has the ones you fill manually. There is alot less to go wrong, and plenty cheaper as well.

$240 is not a bad price. I paid $214 for mine. Took about 3 hours to install, only because I was being very very very carefull with the first one and the second one took about 30 minutes

They work great and don't interfere with the SuperGlide hitch at all. I usaully run about 10 psi in them, that's mainly because my gauge won't go any lower. I do adjust the tire air pressure depending on what I'm doing.

SG - Have you had any issues with the loss of wheel travel that some folks have complained about with the design of the bags/brackets for the '03? Something about the combined height of the new brackets and the fully compressed bag being greater than the bump stop that gets removed? Are you running an in-cab controller, or did you just plumb in a guage?

I purchased mine from www.truckspring.com, $229.00 with UPS ground to TX about $240.00. You might try www.camperschoice.com but I think the price is the same. Very easy install. I added the the Dual Air Command compressor kit and mounted the panel in the cubby hole just above the floor console, a bit pricey $380.00 list now; but I have an air compressor with a 1/2 gallon air tank for airing up tires, air mattresses, and a myriad of other air goodies. Good Luck!

I just plumbed mine to the back. I have seen no difference in wheel travel, however I don't do any off roading. I just don't think this 7200lbs front heavy pig is exacly cut out for REAL 4X4ing

tobyw,
The rumor I heard was the in-cab control switch either did not hold the correct amount of air and or it would leak. Like I said it's a rumor I heard, no fact's or personnel experence. I really like the idea of the in-cab controller but I did not get it for that reason. A lot less parts to go bad in my book. The old saying "Keep it simple" Good luck...

You can also try JCW -- ~$250 minus 20% off for orders over $200 plus $21.99 for shipping. Here's the link to a listing of applications for the Firestone (there weren't any JCW Air-Lift kits for your truck). Some of the Dodge applications specifically mention "(incl. diesel)" but the '03 app doesn't so you might want to double check that it, in fact, would work on your truck.

About leaking air line fittings: From what I remember reading on another forum, that's usually the result of improper installation altho, on the same forum, someone actually upgraded the lines. I've read of folks doing the same thing with the ARB air-locker lines.

Good luck.

Heck with the airbags, I used to run em but then I tried a set of Timbren load boosters, I'll never go back to airbags now.

Check em out www.timbren.com
