What do you think of this deck-over GN?

http://www.trailerenterprises.com/in..._4_20_14K.html

for more info from the manufacturer...see their PDF pamphlet
http://www.trailerenterprises.com/Mo...esBrochure.pdf

Looks to be made solid, I-beam construction, prices are fairly reasonable at $5175 for a 20+4, 14k model, with LED lighting.

Looks nice. I'm a big fan of the adjustable rear dovetail deck. I'm also a fan of the 9x6 top deck that sits on top of the deck. I paid about the same price for ours with the stated options

I don't need the adjustable rear deck, and as for the deck up front, I have access to the steel to build one for hauling my extra tires on.

I've just never owned a GN before, and the only ones I have seen cheaper are usually C-channel frames. thats why I asked about this one.

Stick to the "I" Beams. They are much stronger and pull better

This trailer is Probably ok, I like adjustable dove tail. that style of ramp IMO is a pain.
Look at Pro Trak or Express. Also, on an equipment trailer i would prefer leaf spring axles rather than torsion. I had a kiefer built GN. It was ok, Now I have Pro-Trak. it is NICE. Very happy with.
But if this is what you want. OK.

I also looked at that torsion axle thing, and it just doesnt seem safe/strong.

at this point i think i may be getting a Kaufmann trailer

i have never seen a 7 ton+ goose with anything but a i-beam frame?

I did alot of research after i sold my 7 ton corn pro and ended up having a 12 ton 30+5 horton made. IT cost $8300 out the door. I got deck bridging, peirced frame construction, torque tube and 12k oil bath axles with 3500 lb tires and wheels. Trailer empty weight is 9200 lbs

With the 7 ton you are REALLY pushing the limits of the tires hauling close to gvw. I got tired of blowouts etc and once i went to dual tandems i never looked back.

Also i am glad i went the the 12k axles ovver the 10k....the brakes are a good bit larger!

Oh yea, i would HIGHLY reccomend the dual leg 2 speed jack and get some kind of toolbox as well!

Heres some pics of the horton

yes...there are c-channel 14k GN's out there, i didnt know until someone pointed it out to me.

The most I will be hauling is my truck, which will weigh in at no more than 8200 when in pulling trim, and 4 extra wheels/tires. This puts me nearly 2k under the rated 14k GVW since the trailer weight is 3,800.

If I could afford a 20k dual tandem set-up, I'd go for it, but I can only spend about $4500 at this time.

TJ looking at the trailor with a 14,000 gvwr and the trailor weighing 4,500 lbs that is only leaving you 9,500 lbs to load on the trailor you truck with weights is what 8,200 lbs plus any other gear its really pushing the axle and tire ratings

My trailer now is overloaded, and a bumper pull.

A 20+4, 14k is what I can afford, and it will work, its only gonna get used about twice a month for 6 months a year...its not like I'll be wearing tires and axles out hauling at the max GVW everyday.

your tires are not going to be happy on that trailer...lets say it has 3500lb rated tires....you would have 12700 lbs on that trailer...minus lets say 15% (1905lbs) tongue weight thats 2700 lbs per tire. Usually trailer come with a tire rated for 3200 or less, depending on how cheap the manufacturer is.

Im just saying from experiance i hated my 25 foot 7 ton. i never overloaded it, always kept tires to 80 psi, but they would randomly blow. If you cant afford new, there are ALOT of nice 10 ton goose's for sale for 4-6 grand

we lost 2 tires on a 6-lug 12k low boy trailer last year because we hit the road on a 75* day with 70psi in the tires...

on the trip back we ran 60psi in the tires, and they would heat up and be 70psi when on the road...made the whole trip without a blowout
