I use a commercial black streak remover that I buy from my local RV supply. Spray on, scrub with a long-handled car wash brush. rinse real well with hose. Seems to work real well. After I get the exterior (wavy aluminium) clean, I use a a spray-and-wipe detail wax to bring back some shine.

 

I wash mine real good then use "ProtectAll" kinda of expensive ~ 30.00 gal takes me about a quart to do a 27TT, wavy aluminum. I up for suggestions also as the product works great but it is an all day process. Well at least several hours. It works though.

 

Just build ya a big ole pole barn and keep that sucker in there.

No black streaks in there.........

 

I'm with tfeoere - - I wash using a car wash solution. Then coat with ProtectAll. I spot clean any streaking with ProtectAll. Real quick and easy to use. You can also try the "clothespin on the gutter" trick - - it really helps keep the streaking down. I coat my unit probably about three times a year. Washes easier, has UV blocker, keeps it looking good. I even coat the windows. Water just beads up almost as good as RainX.

 

Thanks, I moved to a new place two years ago and have not gotten around to building a cover for it and it really shows as this is a pain letting it set out all winter. I will try your suggestions, someone else here once suggested a product called simple green?? Never heard of it, the wife says wally world has it so I am going to try it also. Thanks again, Rick

 

Speed secret for the DTR people;

You will not believe how well "Awesome" works! actually it works on just about everything .... don't leave it on too long though or you will have some thinning paint. You can get it at just about any 99 cent store for 99 cents .. try it it will solve your problem quick and easy no more black streaks.

You must remember, when using anything stronger than a mild car wash solution, you will remove all wax and coatings all ready on the unit. Not fun putting it all back on again.

If you have a decent coating on the coach, dirt and streaks will remove pretty easily. In fact, as previously mentioned, a little ProtectAll does wonders to removes the black streaks (if there are any that don't easily wash off) if the coach was previously protected. Stubborn stains can be quickly removed with Gel Gloss, a fibreglass polish - - this will even work on light scratches with some elbow grease.

 

"Awsome" is a brand knock off of Simple Green(SG), SG is a strong cleaner, great degreaser, several shops that I know of use it in their parts washers.

Do not use it full strength except on stubborn areas. Make sure you rinse well. SG also works well to help rejuvinate dry rubber seals. A company I worked for used it to clean the rubber rollers in Laser Printers.

SG can be found just about any where, in fact I just saw it in Home depot yesterday.

I have had good luck with SG, but I think Dawn dish soap works well also, and it's not as strong as SG

Trisodium Phosphate, comes in liquid or powder form. Available at Home Depot and found in the paint dept. It mixes with water and is very inexpensive, about five bucks. It's used for washing walls before painting, removes any grease, grime or oil. Sounds like it would be harsh but its not.

I have been using it on my aluminum TT for 2 years, leaves nothing behind but shine. Removes black streaks realy well and doesn't hurt the tires or rubber seals on the windows. A friend of mine has one of those ice cream shops shaped like a giant ice cream cone. It's made out of fiberglass and he has been using this stuff for 4 years to wash down the store. No fading or streaking.

Nothing like a clean shiny trailer!

I use an RV/Truck wash, then use 303 Aerospace Protectant. It works great on everything, provides UV protection and you just spray it on and wipe it off. Great for rubber seals on slide outs, tires, etc. Shines up the 5er just like new.

Where do you get the Gel-Gloss from??? I need to also clean my 5er and I'm looking for some good stuff to remove the black streaks but I don't want to damage the fiberglass finish.
