U.S. Gear D-celerator
I will installing an exhaust brake soon and have narrowed it down to the Pacbrake or the U.S. Gear D-celerator. Have seen losts of posts regarding the pacbrake, but not much on the D-celerator.

I would be interested to here from folks using a D-celerator and their thoughts on it.

Thanks for any info.....

Re:U.S. Gear D-celerator
I have the US Gear. It works great and does what it is suppose to do.

It is installed in a 14" + - straight section of the exhaust so it
is not installed at the engine like many of the others - consequently it gets less exhaust heat which should make it live longer. On the other hand it is not as protected since it is under the truck (this may be a consideration in snow etc.)

Re:U.S. Gear D-celerator
As I've said before my de-celerator has been on the truck for about 4 years. Has never failed me and towing without it, I just won't do. Under the truck ,down line of the turbo is where I wanted mine. The only thing I want is 60 lb exhaust springs for a stronger stopper on the down grades. I'm told so long as I don't run up the rpm's 50-60 lbs will work on the stock springs. 30 lbs. At 15K my fiver is a little heavy and need a little more drag.

I like US Gear and wouldn't have any other. I've had no trouble with road trash or spray, but then I live in Georgia without a lot of salt. I've seen nothing to get hurt from spray. No more than anything else under the truck. You won't go wrong with any on them.

..Preston..

Re:U.S. Gear D-celerator
I had one Decellerator on a Ford. Had it back to the shop several times for repairs. One particular problem is it is mounted a ways downstream from the turbo with several connections in the between it and the turbo. It is hard to keep these exhaust pipe joints from leaking. This diminishes the efficiency of the brake. I now have the Pacbrake which bolts on ahead of the exhaust pipe which eliminates that problem. But have not had the Pacbrake long enough to tell if it is going to have any heat problems, being so close to the turbo.

Got a pac-brake on the 94 and a b&d on the 02 maybe made by the same folks??? i would be better off chopping a hole and buying some new boots and dragging my feet i think i got took??? neither is worth the money by my estimation. leas not pulling my 12k trailer which is why i bought them everyone here says good things bout the b&k so i tried again with the new truck Helps very little my two cents worth (wish that was all i was out) Glenn

Re:U.S. Gear D-celerator
The only time I'd consider the de-celerator is if I had a V-8 diesel or an hx-40 where I couldn't mount the brake right on the turbo.
One of the advantages of having a I-6 is the ability of mounting a ex. brake close to the turbo for quicker reaction times. I've heard they work ok even though they mount further down the exaust system.
db

Re:U.S. Gear D-celerator
I've had a US Gear decellerator on my turck for over 3 yrs...has worked flawlessly and works very effectively while towing a heavy load...only thing I noticed was I had to have my RPMS above 1800 for best response.
To each their own I guess...mine works great.
I have never tried the others, therefore I will not speculate nor will I guess or comment on their effectiveness.
Never had leaks in the exhaust either.

Re:U.S. Gear D-celerator
I have a U.S. Gear D-celerator on my 93 and it was installed by Camping World. I have had nothing but trouble with it. It has not worked at all for about 5 years. I contacted U.S. Gear and asked for the schematics so I could see if I could fix it and have never received them.

Re:U.S. Gear D-celerator
I have the Pac and I wouldn't tow again with out it. There is a night and day difference. The only thing I read about pipe mounted brakes is that carbon can give them trouble since they are mounted so far from heat. Never heard of heat hurting a turbo mounted exhaust brake.
