If you are renting one way, here is something to consider.
I used to rent these trailers all the time before I just went out and bought aa cargo trailer of my own.
I found that renting a U-Haul as a local rental instead of a one way was a lot cheaper. You get the trailer for 2 days anyways for whatever the price is plus a daily charge afterwards. Yes it means you have to haul it both ways but it's still worked out cheaper.
U-haul has a wicked drop charge on one way rentals.

With diesel prices at $4.20 a gallon
, I can get 18MPG with just the truck, with the trailer I lose 2-3 MPG. $30.00 per day for a round-trip rental
I will be gone for 4 days = $120.00
Now, a ONE-WAY rental is $200.00
So far, that is an $80.00 difference
Now, with the fuel loss, I lose 10 gallons of diesel fuel or $42.00 bringing the empty trailer back. That brings it to $38.00 ahead with getting the round-trip trailer.
Is $38.00 worth the hassle of hauling a trailer back 900 miles? I would probably say it's NOT worth the hassle.
I hope my math was correct...

If your math is correct, I totally agree with a one way rental. $38 isn't worth the effort.
In any of the cases I have rented, I only wish I was offered an $80 drop charge, mine were usually $300 or more depending on where I'm going. In the days of renting, $300 or so for drop charges bought a lot of fuel (when it was cheap)so it was worth the cost to bring it back, I had to come back anyways.

I would check the coupler after you have pulled it a few miles( mine needed tightening when I got it home -5 miles) then every hour so. I also thought about a round trip rental, but it didn't justify its self (but, all dealers are differnt I think).
