Trailer/winch batteries
Okay, i just picked up a Napa/Echlin ST-85 relay.<br>12V/80Amps continuos duty. What gage wire should I run back to the trailer to keep the batteries charged.<br>I am running a 12K lb winch on deep cycle batteries.<br>http://www.swampfoxcustoms.com/hot_shot.htm<br>

StevieG:<br><br>If you already have a trailer wire plug back there for the trailer, the black is for battery charge & the white is common ground.<br><br>The standard 7-position plug uses 10-gauge for positive & 10-gauge for ground.<br><br>If you need to run a complete line, 10-gauge (awg) will handle 30amps; 12-awg will do 20 amps; you've gotta find out what your alternator will put out to the battery. (& I think you should probably put in a battery isolator, too).<br><br>Hope this helps.<br><br>
