^^^ If you're into marketing, that 22% makes a big difference!!!! I don't have time to go to some place and have them fill my tires and pay them every time. Ever try and get a truck and TT in the Costco parking lot on a Saturday afternoon??? The compressor I have at home and in my truck works nicely.

Yes I do balance and cover all my trailer tires every time they are parked for more than 2 days.

I have a set of Taskmaoster 7.50 x16 LT tires, they are bias ply, rated for 75 mph. They have handled sitting really well, much better than radials. They are also more rugged than radials, I believe. They may be a lot less than a Goodrich, etc., if you do not use the trailer a lot. I also have a set of Bearing Buddies on it. If you go to their web site, they sell Neoprene inner seals that you can use on the brake axles.
The tires are 5 years ols and still have not failed at all.

Has anyone tried the glass beads for the balance?

I know people who use them with motorcycles with good results, but I'm personally not really a fan.

I think the biggest benefit from Nitrogen is that coming out of a bottle it is DRY. No water to speak of. It is my understanding that moisture inside the tires will attack the rubber of the tire from the inside out.

Not to mention the expansion of the water as it heats up.

Ditto that Jerry.

I have an old 2-horse inline trailer that I converted into a hillbilly RV. It has a wagon-style axles, and I was experiencing some vibration too--enough to put some weird wear patterns on the front tires. I rebuilt the front axle, and rotated the tires front to back, and the problem went away completely.

Earth's atmosphere is 78.08% nitrogen. Is 22% more really going to make that big a difference?
And that, somehow, nitrogen in tires doesn't change pressure with temperature changes. Must be magic.

I like the idea of installing jacks on the rear. Also a good theft deterant.

Balanced LT's is the way to go on a trailer. I'll never buy another ST tire again!

Have you ever seen a trailer on the side of the road with a tire in shreds and the fender ripped off? It was an ST, LT's won't fail like that.

problem is, on a trailer like mine with 14's you cant find LT's, you're stuck with ST... That's why I went with Kumho 857's..

Only option I have it to get a lift kit for my axles to maybe fit 15's..

I went to LT tires......big improvement in tire life ( Tow Masters before). I also make sure my trailer tires are balanced.......I rode in the back of 3 horse slat trailer, both before and after the tire were balanced.......big difference. Tire shops will sometimes act like trailer tires don't need balancing......Bull to that.

Shoot, try finding a selection of 14.5 tires. Cheap off brand ones cost me 65 each. when I worked on semi tractor trailers we saw a lot of tire issues on trailers. A lot of times "river wear" as its called is a lot of times caused by axle misalignment. Also, not sure exactly what kind of setup you got, but a heavily loaded spread axle trailer will chunk out the tread on tight corners, especially on gravel. I personally have never put equal or any kind of sand/bead balance in trailer tires, mainly because on a larger trailer you wont notice the difference. You could try it on a 5th wheel, ya never know it cant hurt to try. And the deal with nitrogen supposedly, is the N molecules are larger than O2 molecules, making it harder for them to escape out the tire. Therefore, in theory ,they shouldnt lose air pressure as easily.
