i know i need a protegy but cant afford right now anyhow my problem started on my last trip when i apply the truck bakes the light on the controler flashes on and off and i feel the trailer surging behind me. In the past it has always slowly applied the brakes for a smooth stop if adjusted correctly. any ideas what may be going on? thanks in advance.

 

First thing is what type of brake controller are you using and how old is it? These new trucks have made some changes in the control voltages and the older controllers can't handle it. Yes the Prodigy is a great controller but a newer version of even some of the low end models will work.
But go ahead and get the Prodigy ASAP. Love it!!! ;D

 

hayes lemurz something like that its new 2003 just bought it when i got my travel trailer this year been doing good until last weekend.

 

Sounds like a ground problem. Check the ground under dash or hood, by back bumper, RV plug connection on truck and trailer, ground on trailer and lastly grounds near the trailer brakes. Hope this helps. Srigs

 

I have a Powerstop brand that flashes if there's a short in the system. I don't know if other brands of boxes do that or not.
