Trailer Brake Hookup
I have an 82 Sundowner gooseneck horse trailer that is 18' tandem axle and has been enclosed to use as a band trailer. I have a controller in the truck, so that isn't the problem. Both axles have 2 wires on each side coming out of them that have been cut from the original wiring harness. I have 2 more wires on the new harness I put in that I'm guessing are for the brakes. Do I take all of one wire from the axles and group them together and all of the other and group them together and run those 2 wires to the harness? I'm lost and I'd like to get the brakes working. Thanks

I am sure there will be more help coming. but I would think you will have all one set of group wires going to the wire for the brake control, which is blue normally I think. Then the other set of wires would be ground, which probably would be good to send back through the harness to ground with the truck.

One wire on each brake is + power, which is fed by the brake controller, and the other is ground. Tie both power wires together and then to the wire that goes to the controller and be sure the other two wires are run to a good ground.
