tractor status?

just a question regarding larger loads. the featured truck, not this months, showed a maroon dodge pickup with the bed removed. the owner stated that the bed had to be removed in order to be licensed to carry a fifty foot trailer. could someone explain the reasoning behind that? in losing the bed, would that be for further weight reduction?

thanks

Haulin in Dixie (Bill)'s truck, was originally a 2500. Send him a PM if he doesn't respond here first. He will be more than happy to explain. Bill is a really great guy who knows his truck inside and out, not to mention that he hauls for a living and can explain lots of the rules and regs for doing so.
