towing package wireing 05

towing package wireing 05
Ok bought the new truck. It did not leave Fact with towing package. I had dealer install 7 pin connector and class4 hitch. All the dealer did was install plug and plug in the 4 wire and leave the rest of the wires from the plug tied up under the back. Now I have found a 4 prong male plug under the dash to the left of the clutch ped attached to the left side of the big connector. I have tested this and I think this is the hook up for the brake controle box. Now where do I go to find the ends of the wires so I can run them to the back of the truck. I read a TSB on a 02 about finding this on the Driver side front wheel well. I have found a connector, but can not tell if this is the right one, (just behind the wheel house between the body and wheel house). I looked in the fuse box under the hood and found fuses in the electric brakes and trailer light spots. Am I on the right track. Need to get this together before next weekend. Have to tow a car from Atlanta to Miami. Any help would be great.

That dealer should be shot for doing work like that. They only did half the job. The brake controller plugs into the flat four connector plug near the clutch. For the brake wire to the back, you will find a connector right behind the left front splash shield. The brake wire from the controller harness ends there. You need to splice a ten gauge wire from there to the brake wire on the new plug. I believe the remaining wire is the charge line from the battery. Can't remember for sure but that one might be in that connector as well. Maybe someone with an 05 wiring diagram can help with the color codes. You won't need a charge line for a car hauler anyway. Good luck.

You are right about the dealer, But I can not realy get too mad at them. I Got a 37000 truck for about 26000 and the hitch and chrome wheels in the deal. So I dont mind doing a little wireing.

I think he may need that charge wire for his battery for the breakaway.

Ok, today I dug into the truck and found the wire in the connector for the electric brakes. Now I know there is more I need to know when trying to add the tow package to my truck. What is this relay for light about? Do I need to add anything to the PDC under the hood? If I go to the dodge dealer and buy the tow harness from them is it a plug and play thing or do I need to add relays? Now what do I need to do. I might want to buy a camper. Also we are into Jr Drag raceing and I want to buy a good inclosed trailer for the gear. What will I need to do to get the wireing up to snuff?
