towing mirror question
now usingOME manual towing mirrors. Considering upgrade to extendable, power adjustable,**** or Bestop. I would apprectate comments from members who have used them for sometime; vibration? durability, ect. Thanks for your input.

I've got the power/heated ****'s on my truck... I like the newer style they got that kinda' looks like the Fords. I'm thinking about switching out to those. A bit pricy, but well worth it!
I've had them on for quite some time now and they have been great!

Only thing on the Doge mirrors, I can see better with them up then when folded down. Hmmm guess I'll just have to leave my trailer hooked up permanently. Only real complaint is the 2nd gens are not power.

The DC mirrors are the best, especially if you have the power/heated ones. They even got smart and fixed it so yo don't have to think about it when you extend them up.
there are other choises such as http://www.ttt-mirror.com/
This mirror is real nice but costly.
The DC mirrors don't vibrate at all and the heated fuction works automatically if you use the defrost

I had the elec. **** tow mirrors on my 01 Duramax and I have the stock elec/ heated tow mirrors on my new 04 CTD and I prefer the stock one's on my Ram over the *****. My trailer is 102" wide and I see more with the stock and they have way less vibration also.
By the way I'm new here(been lurkin' for awhile though) and this is my first post so be gentle!!

Yes, several of us here have done it. I have them on my '01 and power is the only way to fly..... especially if you happen to go from flipped down to flipped up by yourself. It's a PITA to get the passenger manual mirror adjusted by yourself (in and out of the cab 900 times until you get it right). The most painful part of the swap is having to shell out for two sets of mirrors.

please explain why two sets of mirrors and what parts pieces are needed. Currently i have a set of Gen 2 flip outs for my 1998 12v in the shed and the 1998 12v has power sport mirrors on it already. what next buy a set of Gen 3 power flip out and wire them into the sport miror wiring and then use the Gen 2 flip out bases to tie them to the door?

Yes, that's basically it. The mirror heads are interchangable. The 2nd gen tow mirrors were only offered in manual. 3rd gen can be had in manual or power. You put the 3rd gen power heads on the 2nd gen bases and bolt them on... hook up the wiring, etc.
I had to buy two sets of mirrors, 2nd gen tow mirrors and 3rd gen power tow mirrors because my truck had the weenie little non-tow mirrors on it. They were power/heated weenie little mirrors, so I already had wiring harness and just had to tie the new mirrors into it.
