I agree. The EZ ain't gonna make it a race truck, but it will help you with towing. With my 5 spd, it made getting up to highway speeds a whole lot eaiser.

What about the smarty? it'll give you the power down low and a little more fuel up top. all around one of the best towing programmers/boxes out there IMO

I'd venture to say not... As long as he is not using 4x4 on dry concrete he should be fine. Most usually say to be safe make sure your difs are within 1-2% he is at 1.5% if the ratios he gives are correct... When you think of tire wear, air psi, etc 1.5% is not all that much

they don't make 4.56 for the dana 80, or didn't at the time. .07 difference is next to nothing, it's less than having worn tires on one end of the truckand new tires on the other. alot of trucks come with slightly mismatched gears from the factory (especially fords).

I've read about them on these forums. Search for Gear Vendors. There's also one from US Gear I think. I don't have one, but it seems the popular opinion is that one is better for an auto transmission, while the other brand works better for manual transmissions. It may be that people suggest the Gear Vendors unit for autos.

Looks like Gear Vendor is the best choice for an auto. Any idea how it would work with an e brake?

I guess I should start a new thread with that question.

Thanks for the info.
