Torsion Axles vs. Leaf Springs - what's the difference?

Ugh - still not sure what to do... I'm still leaning toward the leaf springs, just because they seem to be a bit more difficult to damage. AND, with my luck, I WILL nail a curb or two :-)

Well, things have changed a bit since my last post. Now I'm looking at a Haulmark Kodiak 7x16, 7K GVW, tandem torsion axles. I guesstimated on the amount of weight I'll normally be carrying around and it came out to be around 2K lbs. The empty weight of the trailer is about the same, so normally 4K lbs. total.
I'm going with the torsion axles for now (I guess) because one of my best friends swears by them, and he tows a lot. So I told him - 'OK tough guy - I'll look at these torsion axles, but if I break or bend 'em you get to help me convert it to springs'. He agreed, so I guess I'll go with torsions for now... But man, they're about $600 more than the spring setup. They'd better be worth it :-)

I have had both and feel the torsion suspension is far superior than leaf springs in ride , towing and durability . I tow mine in the field and down the road and have had zero problems so far . With the leaf trailer I was always fixing hangers and broken leafs but it had a lot of hard miles on it also .

I'd suggest getting quotes from 3 dealers, for the trailer you want with the options you want. Check out the Mfg's website on build features and specs like door opening size. Then buy what makes you happy. Price isn't always the best indicator.
IMO, single axle trailer-torsion axle OK. Tandem axle trailer-go with equalized spring axles.
Your question on Interstate trailers?- Good trailer at a good price. Their Millenium Pkg is a nice group of options (RV side door, load lights, dome lights, vents, diamond plate protection, etc) at a great price.
