Tires

I'm getting ready to buy my 3rd. set of 15 inch tires for my 5th/wheeler and was wondering what kid to get. I've had 2 sets of Goodyear Marathon's and had excellent luck with them.

I’m of the opinion that you should “dance with the one that brought you “. It sounds like you have had good luck with the Goodyear tires why change.

Goodyear had a big problem with the Marathon 03,04,05,06, and 07. In 08 they finally came out with a Load Range E version on the Marathon. I had the Load Range D version that was re-rated for 3000lbs from 2750lbs so they could be installed on trailers with 6000lb axles. (My Opinion) I had bubbles develope in two of the tires between 05 and 06. I changed them out in 08 with the E Marathons made in China. No problems to date.

Goodyear is good about damage claims from blowouts and 95% of the time will cover damage caused from the blowout.

The only other tire I would consider for my fifth wheel would be the Michelin XPS Rib in the 245 x 70 size or the Goodyear G Rated tire. I would need new rims and hubs with 9/16" studds go to the G's. Michelin and the Goodyears G's are built the same with all Steel sidewals and tread base. The Michelin Rib has always been built in that fashion. Michelin does not warrant blowout damage, but, I've never seen a Michelin Rib blown out. I sure it must happen just never heard of it.

What ever you do, make sure you match your axles load carrying capacity with the tire you choose.

I've been checking around and both, Michelin XPS Rib and BFGoodrich Commercial TA's don't come in 15 inch.
