ok, so this may be a dumb question, do you rotate wheels and tires together or do you take the tires off of the rims and rotate that way. It seems to me that if you dont take them off the rim then the outside of the tire is alays on the outside and you cant correct that wearing that occurs on the outside of the front tires. Does that make a lick of sence?

Makes sense to me but AFAIK it's simply not possible to 'correct' for the existing wear, at least not the way I drive. Whether criss-cross or straight-back/front the tires on my vehicles never 'catch up' to the cornering wear but luckily most tires I've used have more material in that area so it's never been an issue for me. As far as switching the tires around on the rims: it would just distribute the wear more evenly but I've never bothered & have never had a tire wear thru on the shoulder 1st and I've driven on tires until they started separating (don't try this at home or anywhere else for that matter).

On the vehicles I have or have had, that say I can cross them over, I rotate the tires and wheels together. On the ones that say not to, I normally only move them forwards and back on the same side, but once to help out after a bad alignment, I took the tires off the rims and mounted them on the opposite side of the car keeping the driving rotation the same. That cost me some significant $$$, I don't want to do that again unless absolutely necessary.
