Thanks for all the advice guys. Especially the suggestion for a notepad and camera. We looked at Arctic Fox, Open Road, Rockwood, Sandpiper and Mountaineer. Both the wife and I really liked the Mountaineer 315RLS. Enough that we're almost ready to jump.

Now for the big question... anyone know markups in the RV industry? What's a reasonable offer to make since, as far as I can see, there isn't even an MSRP, just a dealer set price.

So... any advice on what I should pay for this thing? It's pretty well loaded. Thanks again!

 

I offered $8,000 less than their " asking price ". The sales man hummed and hawed , went to the manager and came back and said it wasn't enough . I told him I would write a check for my offered amount on the spot. He went back to the manager and all was good

 

Other factors to consider are SERVICE AFTER THE SALE! and EXTENDED WARRANTY! Two years is not enough warranty on most trailers. Here in So Cal, to get a warranty appointment can have six week lead times.

Mark-up on trailers is huge, as much as 20K or more for larger trailers. Don't be afraid to give a rediculous offer, and don't be afraid to walk away from a deal.

 

I would add to the quality/fit/finish stated above, Add a solar panel to the top, makes a big difference parked for a week with out a plug in or traveling to charge the batteries. Have the factory install a boat rack to the top, it may be bolted through the frame,built up at the contact points...maybe never used for a boat, but for an additional luggage carrier for stuff.
outside lights on each side are a plus. 12V plug ins are useful for a bunch of stuff. an aftermarket 12v to elec inverter for the coffee grinder is a must for when your "camping" . I personally dont like listening to anyone pull in and using a generator in the middle of somewhere, so use that cash for the items I listed. get a fantastic reversible fan, wow you will enjoy that. If you are not going to the cement pad with plug ins you wont use that airconditioner much. Solar windows are good. I'm with you using the bed w/shell for bikes, and the tt, great set up. Have fun.
