Question Telma Brakes

I have heard that someone is working on Telma electro-magnetic
brake control for lighter vehicule like the one I have for brake efficiency when pulling a RV, Is there anyone aware of when it will be on the market? Thank you

Telma brakes

Read your post about the Telma brake retarder. I'm an engineer
on a Chicago suburban fire department and drive a Seagrave
pumper equipped with a Telma brake retarder. I've been driving
this rig for five years and I think that it's the ultimate braking
system for any vehicle. The problem is the price. I'm not sure but
I believe that it was an eight thousand dollar option. It might
have cost even more than that I can't remember. I would have
to believe that the cost would be too prohibitive in a light truck
application. I just ordered a 04 Ram 3500 Quad Dooley. That
would be a nice feature to have. I'd forgo the exhaust brake. It
would be interesting to hear from someone else who might have
more info.

Telma Retarder

[
You can find more info on the internet. Just enter the words
Telma Retarder. Lots of info. Basically electro magnets are used
to slow the rotation of the drive shaft. Also the braking is pro
portional to the force you use. The harder you brake the more
current. It also provides you with a safer stop especially on wet
surfaces. You see their use in the RV industry. High end motor
homes use them. If I ever bought a coach I wouldn't think
twice about getting this feature. Hope this helped you.
