Tekonsha voyager problem
OK, so I installed a Voyager in my 90 GMC 3500 2wd dump.
It was installed, leveled per the directions. Here's the problem, I can't get anything out of the controller while running down the road. I can however manually slide the **** and get trailer brakes, just no brakes when relying on inertia.
Bad controller?
Let me know what you think.
Thanks in advance.

Re:Tekonsha voyager problem
Sounds like you've got a problem with the wire that you used for the brake signal to the controler. I had the same problem with a 98 chevy I wired. I tapped the wrong wire for brake signal, and had the same results as you. I'd re-check to make sure you've got the correct wire. If the slide makes the brakes work, the controller shouldn't be bad.

Make sure that you spliced the Brake Controller's RED wire into the WHITE wire on the cold side of the stoplight switch.
Hope this helps

Re:Tekonsha voyager problem
I was playing with my controller today cause I am about to go pick up my trailer. It has always shown red on the level light and figured it must need some adjusting. Well I adjusted it with the three edges showing(max) and couldn't get the red to to green or any other dern color for that matter. I tapped on it and the light went out. Hooray right, nope wrong. Now it only works from the manual slide and I just had to tear into it and find whatever I knocked loose. This is not something I will do again or something I recommend anyone else do. Anyway, From what I have seen on the inside of this little booger. It has some weak points that go and can't really be fixed or atleast to my safety conscious mind anyway(too much Navy training and saftey summaries to jerryrig it). I would try the warranty thing but I damaged mine getting it apart. Guess it was time for a new one anyway cause this one was 3 years old and heavily used. Hope my rambling has shed some light on the matter and if not. Good luck and go with the warranty if you have any.

Re:Tekonsha voyager problem
I called Tekonsha, asked them.
They said defective unit.
Returned it to the store where I bought it, no questions asked.
Will install the new one this weekend.
Hopefully this one works.

I'd be glad to give a Voyager to anyone. Got one sitting in my garage. One thing you can depend on with a voyager, you will constantly be figiting with the adjustments.

That is the truth.

With the newer controller designs which don't depend on a swinging pendulum to activate the trailer brakes old style controllers should be taken off the market and only found in historical museums.
