Hey. I am new to the site and hope my fellow smokers can help. I am going to purchase a stepvan or cab and chassis for work with a Cummins 4bta or 6bta and I need more power and overall performance so I can get the job done quicker. Instant throttle response, good mpg and the ability to cruise at 70 - 75 mph with a load day in and day out are the goals. On occasion I may take a trip out of town so it has to be comfortable at a constant 80 - 85 mph. You know how customers get, they needed it yesterday. I need more than just intermittent power, I need strong, continuous power with reliability. I am going with an all mechanical style motor for ease of maintenance and would like some feedback about a turbo, pump, nozzle combination that can get the job done. Of course the engine will be derestricted in the intake and exhaust departments and for my contribution to saving the planet, it will have a WVO conversion. Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

What do you do exactly? A step van going 70-85 mph is moving pretty quickly!

Why is this board getting so many goofy posts lately by people with hardly any posts to their names?

A step van moving at that speed would STILL get absolutely sorry fuel mileage.
Talk about the aerodynamics of a brick.
Not to mention it would handle like the Titanic.

Agree with Shovelhead. Poor fuel milage at high speed and dangerous handling above designed speed, probably 60 mph. You can get the engine and the capacity you want in a CTD pickup truck pulling a smallish gooseneck trailer, with better safety and the benefit of a truck to use for other purposes. Look for a trailer with good aerodynamics, but higher than 75 mph is pushing the safety envelope.
