separate turn and brake lights
Is there a way to wire in separate brake and turn signals? I want to add a second set of lights to my trailer znd not sure how I would wire it from the truck. It seems like the truck might need some wiring changes also. So overall the trailer will have 4 taillights. 2 for turn signals, and ther other 2 for brakes. Also would the flashers operate the lights dedicated to the turnsignals or the the bake lights?

yes and no
You can pick a feed for the brake light right off the brake light switch before it goes back to the turn signal switch. As for separate turn signals, NO. it would be fed from the turn signal flasher and you would need a separate swich to turn the signal to left or right. All that process is done in the moulded turn signal switch circuitry behind the ABS clock spring.
Mind you would have to do some reworking of the trailer plug especially if you have trailer brakes and you should use a relay to prevent overloading the brake light circuit.

Both of my trailers have 4 lights in the rear.
All 4 go on for brakes, and 2 each side blink for turn, with factory standard wiring.
There are boxes available at auto parts stores to seperate out the turn signal/ brake light function. You'd mount it on your trailer, and not have to mess with your truck wiring.

Ya..boxes available at RV stores to control seperate brake/turn trailer from combined brake/turn tow rig.
I think I might have what you're looking for. I bought it to tow my Jeep but ended up installing additional dual function bulbs within my housings. I had it too long to return it (lousy return policy)...I'd let it go quite reasonable.
