RV trip-long Distance
1999 2500 truck : Going on my first long trip-800 miles 1-way for a family reunion camping trip. Pulling a 5th wheel RV, 30' trailer. Was wondering if I should turn off the OD when I start off and the turn it back on after I get moving or what. Have never used the OD before for start drives and really don't know anything about the OD switch. Looking to educate myself here especially for this trip. Going to make it a 2 day trip. Thanks

I've usually found myself (when I remember anyways) to turn off the O/D when I'm going through a lot of traffic signals or heavy traffic with the stop and go, and then once on the highway switch it back on. I've found that it helps keep my temps in check a little better especially if I slide it into neutral when I'm stopped to get the tranny temps back down.
More often than not I'll be half way through a City and remember about the O/D
