RV insurance question
I have a fiver with Texas plates that is based in Mexico. If I take a quick trip to the states, i.e, Texas, for a few days or a week, is it mandatory that I obtain insurance for it? Any suggestions as to what kind of insurance to carry for a short trip into the states? Which companies offer the kind of insurance that I need? Any other insurance advice will be appreciated.
My truck has the required American insurance, but that company does not offer RV insurance.

With the policy I have it is considered a trailer just like any other and so long as it is attached to the truck when the accident happens damage to the other car is covered under the truck policy .

Are you asking if you're legally required to have insurance on the trailer?
If so, as far as I know, only the truck has to be insured. I know I don't have to have insurance on my travel trailer.
As far as comprehensive insurance. I go through Progessive on mine. I don't know what they'd offer for short term insurance though.

Must be different between states. I've never had to show proof of coverage for any of my trailers. My auto policy does cover liability if my trailer damages another vehicle, but I've never been asked anything about insurance registering any of my trailers.

here in NY the liability for any type trailer is covered under the truck you can also add comp and collision to your policy for a trailer. Any RV that moves under it own power has to have it own policy.

Just heard back from my insurance company and they tell me that the trailer (RV) is covered under the truck policy.
Thanks for all you responses.
Edit
Got suspicious about the way the agent answered my questions, so called the head office. It turns out that this company do NOT insure any trailer that is towed by the vehicle they insure. Now now I am back to squsre one and looking for an insurance company that can provide temporary insurance for my truck AND RV. No problem to insure the truck, the problem is insuring the RV
I have posed my dilemma on rv.net and waiting to see what someone there says.
