Resignation from the Weight Police

Resignation from the Weight Police
Please consider this my formal resignation from the Internet Weight Police. This resignation will take effect on Wednesday, August 4th when we take delivery of a Doubletree Mobile Suites 36RE3 5th wheel (16K GVWR) to replace our current Jayco Designer XL 3610RLTS 5th wheel (13.5K GVWR). We'll be running over Dodge's GVWR and GCWR ratings (but not the axle ratings) until the money bucket is full enough again for the Freightliner FL-70 or the Peterbilt 330.
Crow certainly does taste bitter - the things we do to keep Momma happy.

I run overweight sometimes. With my last truck, I was 900 lbs overweight at the scales with our 5th wheel on. It's a 293 Jayco Eagle, 10,400 lbs with 1900 lbs pin weight. With this truck, I'm right at the GVWR. With the inlaws with us, we're over. Not a problem. I like FL-70s. Our neighbor brings his home occasionally from work. But is it really necessary. I bet the HO dually tows it like a champ!

I had a look at a Double tree. They have got to be one of the nicest and highest quality rigs on the road.
I especially like the deeper walls with more insulation.
Great for both hot and cold climates. EXCELLENT Choice.
I know nothing about the weights that you are exceeding.

Now, why didn't I think of that. Far cheaper than an antigravity unit. Sheesh. Honestly, I don't think you are going to have any problems with this setup. Just use some discretion in loading the trailer up and don't let your wife do it. My wife filled every nook and cranny of our trailer and every weekend we go through an area and take junk out of it.

I'm not as worried about going as I am stopping. Since the trailer has MorRyde suspension, I may talk to MorRyde about their electric-over-hydraulic disc brake conversion package. It was around $1700US for the 7K Dexter axles on our previous Jayco Designer XL 3610RLTS.

Congrads on the new fiver Rusty. You might have to get Sandy to leave some of her flamingos home to keep the weight down. HA HA
Camilla and I have signed up for the iRV2.com rally next Summer in PA, I hope you and Sandy are going also. We would love to see your new Doubletree.
Sorry we could not make it to the rally this Summer.

Bill,
I'm already in trouble with Sandy over her pink flamingoes. I told her that she ought to throw away the tacky flamingoes as they wouldn't go with the new 5th wheel - if she's gonna have flamingoes in the 5ver, they really ought to be leaded cut crystal. Somehow, she failed to see the humor in that.

I just weighed our rig. Truck (with both tanks full - - 84 gallons) and both of us in the rig - - 8240. Trailer - - 16,200.
Rusty - - we have now come over 5000 miles over some really rugged stuff and steep stuff - - no problems. I feel very comfortable with the setup. I do have MORryde IS suspension (absolutely super) and the MORryde rubber king pin - - it pulls great, handles great. Don't be too quick to change. I hear a lot of guys complaining about the "big" truck when they have to drive it around. I sure wouldn't do it.
We are in Nova Scotia, heading to the ferry for Newfoundland in two days. Having a great time.
Gotta get off this library computer.
