Renting Enclosed Trailer?
I'm looking for info on renting a 14-18ft enclosed trailer for a cross country move. Is there even a place that does this?
Seattle to florida if it matters.

With one-way rental charges what they are, some people have actually bought a trailer and resold it after their move and come out ahead. Just a thought.......

If you rent a U-Haul the biggest trailers they have are 6X12 and for a move like yours it would cost about $750.00 rental to buy one that size they cost about 15-1700.00
Anything larger like a 7X14 they start at 2500.00 on up to buy
Its hard to find a rental trailer larger then 12' even Penske only rents moving trucks no trailers

You may want to check http://www.abfs.com/
They not only supply the trailer for you to load, but will tow it for you also.
We moved full household (20K plus lbs) from CA to NC for $2700.
Moving Company had estimated $30K.. Savings paid for 2001 CTD.

Definitely buy a trailer, use it and sell it as very much like new when you're done. Haulmark makes a very nice trailer and they're not super expensive. www.internet-trailers.com. I bought a car hauler to haul a friend, for 1700, and sold it for 1600 after I used it.
BTW you can very easily get away with not plating (i.e. registering/paying taxes on) the trailer... Just keep the title on hand and do it within a few weeks of purchasing the trailer. There is an actual legal limit to how long after you purchase it that you can drive it without plates (14 days I believe, but check laws).

I rented mine from United Rentals in Southern, CA when I moved to Spokane, WA. 26' long x 6.5' high x 7' wide. I moved and I brought it back to CA in 4 days-about 70.00 to rent.
I also looked at buying one, but that was too expensive to front all the money. Not to mention licensing it.

I bought a 24ft Haulmark for our move from S.D. to Arizona as Uhaul wanted around 1700 for what we needed. Buying the trailer didn't save me a thing because we fell in love with in and still have it. Matter of fact it cost us more than we gambled on because we ended up having to buy a bigger truck to pull it with!
