Rear cam and lining up trailer hitch?
Hi Guys,
I have an 8" touchscreen computer monitor molded into my dash and a PC built into the center seat of my truck. I've been thinking about installing a rear video CAM and using the PC monitor to display the image.
The main reason I'd install the camera would be to assist with hooking up my enclosed trailer to the truck. I have to hop out of the truck 3 - 5 times on average before I get the hitch lined up. I'm always worried that if I back up to far the toungue on the trailer will hit my painted bumper and ding it. So I back up just a bit at a time and keep hopping out and checking it.
Does anyone here have experience with a rear cam? I'm wondering if it may be hard to judge perspective on the monitor, therefore making the cam vrtually useless to help with hitching up the trailer?
I'm not sure if my idea is practical or not. I thought it might help if someone who has tried a cam could comment.
Thanks!

Easy hitch
Did some searching and found this. http://www.easyhitch.us/ might be something helpful. I have not personally used one so I cannot say weather it is a good buy or not.

heck you could make one of those plates, piece of quarter inch, bend it and weld it to your hitch....or the girlfriend/wife is also a good inexpensive idea.....
HEY HONEY!!!!!
have seen the cams on the heavy duty tow trucks...class 8 trucks, and the drivers I talked to say they are great, back it in one time and hook and roll.

I used to have that same problem, so I got a set of these. Cheap, simple, reliable, and they work great!

Camera Perspective not perfect
I have a Radio Shack wireless camera & 3" portable TV set up on my 5th wheel so I can see the back trailer when I'm towing doubles...it works OK, but the perspective thing is a little off. I had a used Airstream that came with a mirror that was mounted on a post, with magnets @ the bottom of the post that stuck to the trailer jack tube. That thing work perfectly every time.
