Pulling hills with the 600
#16
Signature600:
Stock, the new engines rev a lot better/higher easier than the old 12 valves do, but with a simple 3Krpm GSK install, they will pull to about 3200rpm's before you run out of fuel from what i hear. Im with you on the 12 valves. When im pulling, and turning about 1800-2k rpm, there is hardly a grade around that will pull me down much, but it wont accelerate over about 2300rpm's with a load to save its life, because it starts governing off fuel at about 2500rpm. My TC slips some anyway, so i try not to accelerate to fast in lock-up. Anyway though, I would guess that if you bought a 3k GSK($125), that you would do a LOT better when you have to downshift.

The only other thing you might want to do while pulling the hills is take a look at yoiur engine temp gauge once in while. As long as it stays around 200-210* while climbing you are fine. If it goes higher then there may be an issue with your radiator. This is probably more of an issue with people who mount their spare tire or something else in front of the radiator.
