Painting 5th Wheel Plate?
It was powder coated from the factory. The 1st time I hooked up the new trailer the pin was warped & put two big scratch's on the plate. Dealer replaced the pin box & put on a nylon friction ring. After last tow of the year I sanded it down, primed & repainted it. After about 8 or 9 weeks of sitting in the garage I put it back on & towed around 100 miles. When I unhooked it the paint was smudged up & all over the nylon ring. So has anyone found a good paint or tried the do it yourself powder coating ?

The benefit of the grease is that it will prevent the bare steel from rusting. If your towing enough to keep the rust from forming, I wouldn't worry about some scuffed paint. Otherwise drop the money to have it repoweder coated or shoot some high weight grease on there.

Just smear some grease on it, that's all we do at work ,no fancy special grease , finish lubing under the truck , and pull the hose from the greaser over to the 5th wheel plate , use the same ol grease.
