The advice given Busboy is sound advice: Your warranty is no better than your dealer. I am a transporter for a company that contracts to Forest River. I see dealers in all 48 states and Canada, and they range from extremely competent and cordial to total a**holes. Be as selective and appraising of your dealer as you are of the product you intend to purchase. Talk to others who have had past dealings with them, and rate the dealers according to your feedback. You are making a capital investment- invest wisely in the right product AND the right dealer.

The problem is there are becoming less and less of the good. I have delivered to some that I won't even consider taking another load too, heck even one local that I had bought from treated me so bad when I was delivering to them that I would not buy from even if they were less expensive.

But if you look at higher quality units then the dealer becomes less important too. Also Forest River does have something to do with the service, I have a dealer that is a friend and if the OEM does not pay what is the dealer to do??

The dealer I bought from is not only an RV dealer but also they have a car and truck dealership under the same name and have a very good reputation, they said the factory would not cover the repairs. I forgot one other thing that they DID fix, the ducted air conditioning would not blow into the front bedroom. I shoved a fish tape down the duct and it would only go about 6 feet so I took it back as they hadn't made the cut out in the roof truss and the duct just stopped right there.. To be honest I would rather not have warranty as it's too much of a hassle, but after this the next trailer I buy will be perfect before leaving the lot the first time.

Wow, I just picked up my new (to me) 2007 FR Cherokee 285B+ fifth wheel fri. Now after reading this I'm going ut oh. Dealer was good tho and installed my Reese 16K slider as part of the deal, but it took all day. Was going camping next week end and remembered my son's prom. Now gotta wait longer. I like the lay out and have been thru it, under it, on it and have not found anything to gripe about yet. Good luck with your decision.

Good luck with it. I posted earlier in this thread abought my isues and yesterday was no exception to the rule. I was getting it ready for its first use this year and found out that I have to go back to the dealer AGAIN. The fridge still dont work on electric, only gas. We decided its time for it to go down the road. I liken it to an old snowmobile. Work on it for 2 hours to use it 1 hour. The problem is its not even 2 years old yet. I WILL NEVER own anouther FR product.

Just bought a new FR Shockwave. So far I've noticed they are cheep. No shelves in the cabinets, no wall fan switch in the bathroom(I changed the pushbutton switch on the vent to a pull chain) the tongue jack I paid extra for is under rated and I've never heard of the brand and no propane port for attatching a bbq. All this for a toyhauler with a MSRP of over $40,000!!

Four years ago, we bought an 02 Cardinal Fifth wheel with two slides.
We've had a few minor problems. The AC had to be replaced and the
fridge was worked on due to a recall. I did have a brake that would not
release sometimes. Usually, if I stopped and backed up it released. This
problem ceased when I bought a new truck and had a Prodigy controller
installed. For what we paid for the rig I can't complain because we have
pulled several thousand miles and lived in it several months.
If I were going to replace it I would look for something with a 50 amp
service.
