Exactly, no way to do 3 cars with out cdl and all the other bs. Should've asked before the trailer purchase.

I haul 2 cars with a 4,500 lb. trailer and run around 20,000. add 3,000 more for your bigger trailer and the 3500 for the Crown Vic. Your over 26,000. This will throw a red flag and you will be the one who gets stopped and checked.
If your truck gvw is 12,000 and your trailer gvw is 15,000 you will be fined even if you are empty. They go by the numbers on your registration.

You could get away for years, but only 1 time is very expensive. God forbid if you have an accident.

three cars could weigh <10k easily. A Crown Vic is only about 3500 or so.
3 small cars are possible but what happens when 1 is a Dodge 2500 or 3500?

I went thru the same thing a couple years ago. Everyone had a differant answer. If you are over 26000 you need a CDL. Once you get CDL all the other:

DOT number, annual inspections, ICC number, registering the truck in EVERY state I tranport in, etc...

I'm not made of gold either, just keep it under 26,000 and your good to go in any state. If you ever get stopped the cars are all yours even if they aren't.

Is your truck auto or stick? Mine's auto DTT and it pulls great on the highway, but get on some hilly, twisty backroads and 2 cars give me hard time, couldn't imagine trying to pull 3 on some of the roads I travel.

I don't know about NC but in PA only if over 26000. I can drive a bread truck or tow truck whatever as long as under 26,000.

I don't think any of them know whats up!

Like I said I just went thru all this and as long as you stay under 26000 you will be fine. Only need CDL for over 26000.

You are still going to have a problem with your trailer weight. Your truck and trailer will be registered for 27,000. You will need a CDL and all the other stuff.

It doesn't matter if your empty or only 1 or 2 cars your registration must be under 26,000.
