Mitchell Gear Splitter

Just picked one up on Craigs list for $375 bucks.
Has only 5000 miles on it.

I plan on installing it in my 93 w250 with a nv4500.

Does anyone have any info on gear splitter installs?

How short can I make the driveshaft before the gear splitter?

Does the gear splitter need to be in line with the trans?

Any help would be great

I haven't used the Mitchel. but I have done 3 Gear vendors. You want to keep the splitter inline as much as possible depending on distance to the unit. The shorter the shaft, the straighter the line. You can hook them up direct or as short a shaft as you want as they are fixed positioned. Just keep the final shaft angle within a reasonable angle.. Some times you set the unit down a couple inches at the rear to keep the angles not severe if you have a short wheelbase. You'll love it for towing. I wouldn't do without mine. I have put them in withan integrated into the tail housing, and also divorced units about 14 inch shaft between the trans and unit. They all work smooth.
