Mileage pulling 5er

I got my 1st CTD and my 1st 5er. It's a 06, QC, 4x4, shortbed, auto, pulling an 06 33 ft. Wildcat with slideouts (maybe 10,000 lbs.)

We took our 1st trip the other day, about 750 miles round trip. We averaged about 11-12 MPG pulling in mostly flat country in north Texas. I kept it at 65 MPH most of the time.

My truck has 8500 miles. What kind of mileage are you guys seeing pulling 5ers?

I'm guessing you have 3.73's.

I'm not pulling a 5er, but 10K worth of 2 Jeeps and trailer gets me around 10mpg +/- 5% with 4.10's at 70mph. Aerodynamically I'd guess it's the same as a 5er.

I get about 7-9 depending on the weight, I haul farm and construction on a 30ft goose flatbed...But then again, I mostly haul through the mountains of PA, WV and MD which makes a huge difference

That sounds like pretty decent mileage to me for what your towing.

Well, I'm about to tow my 28ft 5er with the same truck set up as you. It'll be about 750 miles round trip. I'll let you know next week what I get.

Milage with 5er

Your milage will probably go up some more when you get more miles on the truck. I know my milage continued to climb up thru 20k. I towed my 30ft 5er from Illinois to Washington and back last year and averaged 16.5 hand calc for the entire trip. Had about 40k on the truck at that time and mine is a manuel trans. I also do not run oversize tires.

Just returned from pulling the 28 foot 5er. 700 miles averaged 12 mpg both ways. I'm only at 5K on the truck so far and I'm happy with that. This is the first load I've towed with it and now my unloaded milage seems to be going up. If it gets better with more miles on it I'll never stop smiling.
