if i can tow a 5er you should have no issues, there isn't a truck anywhere that won't have clearance issues on a 5er, if you go too far you are screwed
get a sliding hitch so that you have options when you need them
most 5er have options for lenght of the pin box, maybe get the longer one

mine was 18" from the factory but they had a 26 inch optional pin box
look into the rv5 extension if necessary

8 passeneger ram

What is the length difference between the mega cab bed and a standard short bed if any? I am thinking about building a custom pin box for my trailer but I don't want too have issues on the other end of things, worrying about it hitting the bed rails. If it becomes too big a worry I'll build a flatbed.

I don't have a 5th wheel set up, but I do pull a full width enclosed gooseneck with my mega cab. I had to make a few adjustments for it to work. I had to get the 9" extension from PopUp for the trailer. This set trailer back 9" to give me more clearance to begin with.

When I had my hitch installed, after careful consideration, it was installed a few inches behind the axle. I know many people will absolutley blast you for saying you have the pin behind the axle, but it works fine. With it behind the axle, the load is place on the rear of the truck and not on the front axle. While not the setup for hauling extreme loads, the truck can easily handle the weight of my rig.

I wouldn't reccomend this with any truck, but the mega cab DW is more than capable of towing the combo this way. The truck is long, and with the CTD, there is plenty of weight over the front axle.

When I connect the trailer, the truck sits level (rear end goes down some). The front does not come up at all. The truck rides down the road very good and I have no bucking from the trailer.

The mega cab bed is short. If everything was in the standard position without making changes, I could probably hit the cab when turning going forward. Clearance is something that has to be considered on one of these rigs.

I have never weighed the trailer. That is something that I plan to do soon. I am going to make a trip down to the local trck stop and weigh the truck alone and then with the trailer. I wanted to get the weight oon all of the axles when loaded and unloaded.

I'll let you know the results.

No difference Kyle, there both 6.25 in length. Your going to need a slider to keep the nose from kissing the rear window in sharp turns.

i have about 5'9" of bed left after the conversions

turns going forward are not a problem i have pulled uturns with my 5er and and a small utility trailer behind it 59'9" tip to tail with no issues it would be more likely to be tight backing up

you may have to adjust your pin bax to move the rig back a little

my rv5 extension cost me 350 or so
