Max Trailer Size vs GCWR
Anyone have any experience towing gooseneck with SRW? I have the 07 Quad with 3.73 gears and 5.9L. I live in Edmonton Alberta and there is alot of extra cash to be made hauling.
I need to know what the largest trailer I would want to buy taking into consideration the larger the trailer, the less I can put on the deck! Just looking for the right middle ground so that I am most versitile.
Any suggestions would be appriciated.
Thank you,

Im not sure of the limits exactly BUT with a SRW your limits are going to be less than with a DRW I think that basically look at the limitations to your tires and go from there I have a 53' 3/4 car trailer and I have seen people with SRW hauling them and I think they are just plain crazy! I mean hauling heavy and you lose a rear tire there isnt another tire right there to help you out and the fact that you dont have the stability that the duallies have as well. I think your best bet if you want to start hauling is get a DRW.
BUT I didnt answer your question so here is another bump for you!

They are bringing your message to the top of the page by "bumping."
You need to factor the GVW of the trailer minus the weight of the trailer. A common GN is a 14k GVW. That trailer in a 30ft would weigh about 5k. That would give you a payload of 9k and still be within your tow rating and right around your GCW with a 3.73 gear.
Lots of guys here are more concerned with the DOT regulation of staying under 26k. In that case you could tow around 19k which means that you can get a 19k gvw trailer. That size trailer, however would have a higher toungue weight when loaded fully than the GVW of your truck is rated for. But the DOT looks at the GVW's and not the weights. Legally you are not supposed to have a combined GVW of more than 26k. That means that the largest trailer that you are supposed to have is your truck GVW + trailer GVW all staying under 26k.
Personally I would like a 14k trailer to haul 2 Jeeps. This will still surpass Dodge's rating for my truck based on the GVW of 9900. If my truck weighs 7400 then it is rated for 2500 in tongue weight. With just me in it, the tounge weight should not exceed 2250. But a fully loaded 14k trailer should have a minimum of 2800 in tounge weight. I stll plan on doing it with the airbags and I know that the rear axle and tire combo that I have can handle the load.
I have no idea how this applies in Canada.
