Maine Campgrounds

ReserveUSA is a good site to reserve campsites. I don't think it handles private campgrounds though.

Baxter state park is worth a vist and there is a great camp ground run bye the mayor at the entrance. You can't take a camper in to the park just cars and trucks but is worth a visit I really injoyed the place.

main camping
hello,
will be taking my 80 year old mother to dexter, maine during july and she loves camping. another board told me to check out : www.campmaine.com
i also understand there is a nice state park near the town of dover-foxcroft. the state park is called peaks-kenny and i will probably stay there. the other advice i received was that camping spots may be difficult over the holidays (read the 4th).
see ya there!

I like to go to Acadia National Park. You have the park CG which has no hookups or showers but does have bathrooms. Public showers are available 1/4 mile from the entrance to Blackwoods CG.
I went to Camden Hill SP last weekend and it was nice but not fully opened. There are no hookups at any of the SP's here in Maine. I have outfitted my hybrid camper with 160W of solar panels and two Group 27 Deep Cycle batteries so no hookups are OK with me.
If you have kids and want an activity oriented CG then I highly recommend either
Papoose Pond or Acres Of wildlife. Both of these CG's are off the beaten path.
