Late Model Airsteams

Wife and I looked at a 87 excella 31' on the weekend. Man that would look great hooked to my rig. Couldn't meet his asking price though. Question I have is, I read on the manufacturers website, that model year has a 9 pin trailer plug. Is there some sort of adapter available to go to our 7 pin connector?

I just looked at etrailer.com, as they have a good tool for selecting adapters, but I saw nothing on 9 pin adapters.

Maybe try rv.net to see if someone over there can answer your question.

Good luck,

Check out the frames I can't remember what year but the frames where made lighter and they would bend. Bathtub in the back was a real problem. Do a google on airstreams and find out. I was going to buy an airstream at one time until I found this in a search.

We have a 1977 23 foot Airstream, weighs in at 6000 pounds loaded for the road. If I recall correctly, the nine pin plug was for running the refrigerator while on the road so that you didn't run down the trailer batteries.

Our refrigerator is either gas or 110 volts AC, so it isn't an issue.

On the weak frames, was a real issue on the rear bath units in the mid to late 70's. Airstream reinforced them as part of a recall
