Jordan Controller Help

I have a Jordan controler that has worked perfectly since 2003. Hook up to a trailer the other day first time since fall, I get a green connection light but I get no reading and the brake numbers by pushing the brakes or pushing the manual button on the controller. Now it looks like Jordan is gone and out of business, too bad, any one have any ideas. Next question will be what you use to replace it tha works similar, I want something that actually monitors the trucks brakes and not something that is trying to guess what you want.

Mine will do the same thing but I can wiggle the trailer plug on the hitch and it'll start to work. I assume its not making good contact. If I have to replace it, I will get another Maxbrake...that controller is absolutely amazing.

As yours did mine wigged out and started having issues and found they went out of business as well. I finally ended up replacing it with a maxbrake. It is fantastic. It measure the brake pressure through a sensor installed at the master cylinder. As much better as the Jordan was to the older interia type the max brake is almost that much better than the Jordan. My only issue with the max brake is that the unit is larger. I had my Jordan mounted in place of the ashtray in my 01 so it was a nice clean install and out of the way. The maxbrake wont fit there but oh well. The performance is more than worth it.

I don't think it is the connection as this happened on two different trailers and two different plugs. The factory one at the bumper plus the one that I put in the truck bed for the 5ver.

Both times that I had trailer brake problems, it was wiring in the trailer. The last time, the wires to the breakaway switch got pinched and was jerky the brakes on and off. I thought the jordan was going nuts cuz of the crazy flashing light on it. After I found the problem I figured the jordan was toast cuz of the backfeeding voltage from the trailer but it still works fine. After I fixed the pinched wires I connected a volt meter to the blue trailer brake wire to fine tune the jordan and got it working smoother than it ever did before. I tightened the nut that preloads the spring on the peddle module and that made the trailer brakes work in perfect synch with the truck. Craig

Any idea if you can download an owners manual any more?

Another thing that I didn't notice is that it no longer give a reading when no trailer is hooked either. It use to show 0 or .1 or something everytime you hit the brake with no trailer.

I would take a moment and look at the connector under the back of your truck. Just two weeks ago, my buddy's brake controller started showing connection problems. A quick look revealed whoever wired in his "extra plug in the bed" did a crappy job and he had to correct the issue there. If that's the same or something similar in your case, a new controller won't fix the issue.

Regretfully Jordan did retire. Saw him about a year ago and he was doing good. I snitched an extra guts from him for if/when mine goes out. Great controller for the money - - too bad the company that bought him out doesn't realize it and market it. Sure beat that stupid Prodigy. From all I hear, the Maxbrake is the one to go with.

Yep, we were in the same spot as you. When Jordan retired, we thought we'd never find as good a brake controller. I was surprised when the MaxBrake was not only as good but exceeded our expectations. Have been using it for 2-1/2 years and we're fulltime RVer's. Diana

Just wanted to update that I took the Jordan apart last night and had it fixed in about 5 minutes. There are a pair of contacts in it, just like points in an old distributor. Must have been enough oxidation on them they they didn't make contact. Quick swipe of sand paper between them and it is as good as new again. So if you have a Jordan acting up this is very possibly the problem.

I was going to order the Maxbrake today but now I don't have to

Order it anyway. You'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner!
