Infrared Thermometer

A hand held infrared thermometer is great for checking for overheated wheel bearing or tire.
I bought one today at Radio Shack on sale for $29.95

Those things are great for many, many things around the house.

Sounds like a great Xmas present idea for ourselves ....

I love mine, also helps check effectivness of brakes (ie truck vs. trailer, axle vs. axle) I try to check every wheel bearing/brake, and rear axle at every stop. Also nice ot check t'case/tranny on occasion

And you can find yourself a leprachan to sit under the hood w/ the thermometer pointed at your exhaust manifold...if you hear 3 knocks on the firewall it's time to back outta the throttle!

I was thinking that if an injector were bad, the thermometer would read a lower temp at that spot than at the ones that were working.

Sometimes lower, sometimes higher, depending how that injector failed. I love my temp gun, too bad when I bought it, they were still over $250.

Your neighbor called. He said he wanted to know what you were pointing at his house!

Hey how far away do these things work?
