Increasing weight capacity??

Increasing weight capacity??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 2004 HD 3/4 ton. Has rear air bags and overloads. Tires are E rated 17". It is a 4X4 quad cab. Question.....What if anything can be done to increase the load capacity......other than getting a dually, cant do that right now. If something can be done I will get it re-rated if possible

load range "G" LT235/85 R16's

If you are in Las Vegas, go to American Tire on Boulder highway and get their load range "G" which is rated at 3700 lbs each for single rears. I got em on my duals and they are rated at 3400 lbs each in dually configuration at 110 psi.

You might also try tirerack.com for tire availability and price comparisons

Z rated tires will not increase the weight "rating" of your truck. Exceed that and you start pushing the envelope on lots of other nasties happening, like trying to get stopped when that annoying Honda with the snorter pulls out in front of you.

Nothing and nobody is going to re-tag the sticker on the door jam with a higher weight and load range G 16's will not fit on your truck.

Why don't you tell us what you are trying to do....

didn't say anything about "Z" speed rated tires. was talking about "G" load range.

BTW, Goodyear is the only one I could find that has "G's"

well its interesting that the "G" won't fit when I already have them on the truck. true about the load sticker, but if one is carrying heavy stuff once in a while, it can't hurt to have tires that aren't topped out on your load range.

I was talking to the original poster. He has a 2004 truck with 17" wheels. 16" wheels will not fit.
