I wonder why

Why doesen't anyone build a fiver that comes to a point in front, you know, pointed right over the hitch pin, and about 45 deg angled back on both sides.
This would eliminate the need for a sliding hitch on short bed trucks, and cut WAY down on drag. Should help the MPG a bunch.

If anybody out there knows of a fiver like that, let me know.

where would you put the bed? most fivers have the master bedroom up there, that would be a funky looking room

A triangular bed might be kind of fun

Take a look at the Shadow Cruiser. Built basically like you describe. The only issue is the bed in the front bedroom looks to have very little room above it. This isn't the RV for someone who has problems getting in/out of bed.

Shadow Cruiser only makes smallish fifth wheels, but they are lightweight.
