how much weight?

were thinking about getting a skid steer with a brush head and a new trailer. my question is these two together will weigh about 16,000 lbs. with my truck is this ok? id be around 23-24,000 maybe more but it would just be shop to job site. we are a mountain locked valley so theres some grades around. im thinking to get a jordan controller abd this will be a pintle hitch. ive got a dana 70 and camper springs.

Get yourself a class 5 receiver.........I see alot of guys towing big skid steers on 8 ton floats with CTD's.............a good controller, trailer brakes and the right hitch and you will be fine, IMO ........might have to check locals laws and re-register for the approprate Gross weight...

To be legal you'll need to be registered for the weight.

Make sure you have the appropriate hitch.

So long as everything is maintained and fully operastional
That is no problem.

Since you say you're getting a new trailer- get a gooseneck trailer!

No hitch capacity problems to deal with, and the goosenecks handle MUCH better than a bumper pull. You can haul MUCH heavier with the gooseneck- the pin weight of the trailer sits in the bed and adds to your trucks GVWR.

For instance;
My truck has GVWR of 8800 lbs. It weighs empty at 7200 lbs. 8800-7200=1600
That means you could LEGALLY haul a gooseneck trailer with a 1600lb pin weight.
Course, these trucks can handle more weight than that!
1600lbs wouldn't even put you down onto the helper springs...

Class 4 is rated for 10,000 lb with a w-d hitch.........class 4 is factory equipment...........a class 5 is rated for 15,000 lb, typically........some seem to be 14,000 lb.......
