Why do you need to parallel them? You are going to spend more time fueling them up then using them

Well the main reason is for the extra power. One won't do it for certain applications.

Besides an aux. fuel tank takes care of that pretty easily.

My EU2000 seems to run a very long time on a tank of fuel if the load isn't too great and it's in econo-throttle mode.

I'm not sure exactly how long it runs, but the last time I was quad riding in central Oregon in the fall I know we watched 4 movies in three days (gets dark early), plus it ran while we were dinking around cooking dinner and so on, and it never ran out of a single tank.

A single EU2000 will run my roof air without voltage drop while it starts, but only if I have nothing else at all running, including the trailer's converter/charger. I don't do it, though, as you can tell it really works the generator.

As far as keeping track of hours goes, it's literally like a 5 minute job to change the oil in one (counting time for the cold beer), and it doesn't take much oil, so it's easy to just do it frequently.

I sure like my eu 2000. had it 4 years and its perfect. It runs my AC unit on my 5er. I bought the colman polar cub roof top ac. it runs it great and cools my trailer down very well. Im going to get an aux. tank it runs out of fuel fast running the AC. I would get the 2 2000's . My friend has the eu 3000 and that is a real heavy unit I wouldnt buy it after having the 2000. I dont know what your running for power but just remember when you buy your generator you need to look at the amps. say if your ac unit has a running amp draw of 8 amps, start up is going to be double that at about 16 amps. make sure you know what max amp output you have on your generator

I bought online from northwestpowertools. for 900 $ and free shipping. That was 4 years ago. I took it in for one minor warranty issue with no problems.

I say get a Yamaha EF2400iSB. You can get them for $1125 shipped from Wisesales.com. They are more powerful than the Honda and only 70 lbs, and if one is not enough you can parallel them also.

If you're set on the Honda Mayberrys.com has the best price - $879 shipped.

I have a Kipor KGE3500Ti that I'm really happy with. Paid $900. Weighs 138 lbs and comes with wheels. Its small enough that I can lift it into the bed of my truck by myself.

I was searching online tonight for generators. Looked on the Onan site and they had Cummins powered portable Diesel inverter generators. Interesting, bet they are expensive and heavy.

I have the EF3000iSEB from Yamaha also. It is AWESOME!!! It runs forever on a tank and is so quiet you don't even notice it is there. I was at a race a couplke of weekends ago and used it for the first time. I don't know how many people came by just to talk about the generator. They could not believe it would run my AC and all my other needs and be so quiet.

The Honda name is good, but that is part of what you are paying for. The Yamaha generator is top notch and quiet. The Boost technology is second to none and allows you do a lot more than most 3000's will.

I have a Kipor 3500 that I got them to throw in with the toy hauler when i bought it. Works great for what I need it for.
As far as how to keep the engine hours close just get a inductive picup hour meeter/tack from your local Yamaha, Honda or what ever dealer. I put a Yamaha one on my Raptor to keep track of oil changes. It has its own internal battery and install consists of finding somewhere to mount it and wrapping the inductive pickup around the spark plug wire. Thats it. They cost around 30-$45 depending on what brand and features you get.

I have a Yamaha 2400i

Pro's
very quiet
I can lift it my self (70LBS)
price ~$1200.00
Runs my single 13000 BTU AC unit

Cons
I have to make sure the battery charger is not running when the AC starts or it will trip the circuit breaker.

Thats my two cents

Here is "hurricane central" I have a lot of generators. I have the EU3000 - price locally @ Northern Tool & Equip. was lower than the local Honda dealer. I used an EU3000 for 10 days in Mississippi doing animal rescue after Katrina - of the ten generators we had, everybody fought over the Honda. It is a bit heavy, but provides all the portable power I need. It's on the back of my RAM now gettin' ready to head up to camp for Thanksgiving.

As to power, depends on what you run. I have a 5,000 for the house that will run a wall a/c, fridge, etc. - enough to get by after a storm. A 5,000 will run a 13,500BTU a/c unit no problem. For two such units, a 6.5 or 7 is better.

My 44' gooseneck has a 6.5 Onan, which provides roof a/c power and powers the shop in the back.

My fire truck has a 5,000 Onan which runs scene lights and provided back-up power for my campground park trailer.

My Peterbilt 39' hauler has a 7,000 which runs the RV section, and powered two neighbor's houses (limited fridge, lights, etc) for two weeks after Hurricane Wilma.

My 54' GM 4104 bus has two roof a/c and has a 6.5 Onan diesel generator - so old it makes more noice than the 671 Detroit in the bus - but it works.

Some have hour meters, but I just keep a log book, jot down run times, and of course and ,oil added, etc. It is simple, but it works.

If I could connect them all together I could power my neighborhood !

Thread is a bit old but thought I would add my comments. I have the Honda 3000es in back of the truck. It is outside in the weather. It runs the 14,000 air and heat pump and the charger (100 amp) just about every night. I use it most nights for the last year and half. It has been flawless. It is a little small for running the 1700 watt microwave and the 1600 watt air at the same time, but it does what I need, I have the micro on the inverter and it charges up the batteries to float right away. It heats the cab in the winter and cools it in the summer generally at 12 hour runs. A night and a half on a 3 1/2 gallon tank.

I have remote start on it. It saved my butt with losing an alternator, just left it running charging the batteries for 4000 miles. There may be better but I have only had this one, it does what I need flawlessly. Larger units use more gas and I get away with $4 to $6 a night. Much cheaper than running the n14 at $35.00 a night.

Down side, I have not figured out how to add a larger tank so have to gas it every day that I use it, a pain in the rain. Get a lot of comments when I pull up to the gas pumps with the big truck. One irate customer comes over, says you dumb a s s you just put gas in that diesel. I told him, no, I got tired of the diesel and put a 440 in it.

the Honda 3000es is a great and reliable unit if a bit expensive.
