I would cover them. You never know what could get in there, rain, ect. I doubt the wind would be enough to move it bad enough to cause damage but who knows. We should find a guy that dosen't want a turbo, spin it backwards with air through the exhaust, and only have a loop oil system on it, see what happens. Since stock there is oil on the bearings (not moving) it should lubricate enough to keep it from seizing.

Um no it would still spin the same way, the air passing over the stacks creates a low pressure in the pipe causing air to rush out of the pipe spinning the turbo as normal, in theory of course, who knows if there is actualy any truth to the matter.

I was thinking the same thing, are is still passing over the tip of the exhaust. Also just how fast is the turbo going to spin? Fast enough to really ruin the bearings?
Also would it spin the turbo if the truck had a muffler? A stock muffler and not a straight through muffler.
Guess there's only one way to find out!! Guy laying in the engine compartment while the truck gets towed down the road.
