Gulf Coast work
Anyone have "first hand info" on work along the coast for a 3500 and trailer, or just the truck.
I understand the FEMA trailer hauling has kinda wound down and the DOT is no longer using a relaxed rules approach. Things like a sleeper, log book, CDL, and stop at all inspection/weigh stations being required.
Thanks, RJR

It is starting to slow down and should be ending in march some time. I haul campers full time all around the country and have hauled some FEMA units also. Yes, they are finally getting strict on the haulers. They had guys with no exp. pulling and were having some pretty bad accidents. Now they are requiring log books, cdl, dot physical, dot truck inspection and so on. That is how it should be after seeing some of the junk on the road pulling them things.

I've heard there are problems getting paid on cleanup work because funds are running out . For RV hauling go to hotshothauling.com forums and respond to Blue3500's post under WANTED . Blue pays better than the transport companies .

I was there from Sept. to Oct. There was work then and i'm sure there still is. I guess it depends on what you want to haul or if you wanted to get in with another company that has been there for a while. If you go.... there will be stuff to move out of there.

So how was the pay and why didn't you stay longer ? There's a post at hotshothauling.com that says a guy has work for a year in AL . I talked to him but info was too vague . They pay by the yard and wouldn't say how many yards you could haul in a day ?

Talked to a driver who said the problem he'd heard of was getting unloaded. Seems some dump locations are not very capable. Lots of time lost in line waiting for the loader to empty your trailer.
Not first hand info so the proverbal grain of salt may be called for.
