Got our new 5er
Yesterday we picked up our new 5th wheel in Fresno, Ca.. Unfortunately I forgot to take the camera or I would have gotten a few shots of us at the dealership.
We picked it up at 11 a.m., our scheduled time for orientation. Everything went smoothly and after a couple of hamburgers at their BBQ, we were on our way.
Since it was late afternoon, we decide to spend the night at Riverland RV Park in Kingsburg. It was only a few miles from the RV dealership and convienient. We had brought along just the bare necessities for our first night in the new rig. Our first impression...WOW!
Even though this one is a 29 footer and our old one was a 30 footer, this 5th wheel feels so much more spacious than our first one. The bedroom slideout really makes a big difference. It's a very nice unit and I'm sure we'll enjoy many outtings to come. .
The truck seemed to handle it well. It sat level but I could tell it was heavier. I think we'll be fine!

Good Day!
Beautiful new RV. You will have years of enjoyment.
What is the pin weight of your new RV? That will be the deciding factor. The bedroom slides always add a goodly amount of weight to the pin.

Buzz, that is a good looking rig. What dealership did you buy from, if you don't mind my asking? We had shopped around a couple of years before we bought our fifth-wheel last September, a 2004 28 foot Wilderness with a single slide out. We had been to the RV show in Pomona and talked to salesmen from Paul Everts. They couldn't give us the deal we wanted and ended going to the dealer in front of them, Dan Gamel RV. We are very happy with the price we paid and what they gave us in trade on the old pull trailer. I would recommend them to anyone shopping for a new rig.

Hey Buzz, are we having fun yet? Nice looking unit and that truck will do just fine - - just let it get used to what is on its back and it will love it. I am sure you will enjoy it. Great freedom and you have awesome places to go around there in it.
Reading your posts always takes me back to my high school days of growing up around there. I used to horseback ride at my buddies ranch near Kingsburg. Have lots of friends around there. We would check out the high end on our cars after dinking with them in the cotton fields between Porterville and Bakersfield. Had a highway patrol come along side one day when I was running about 100. He went ahead, motioned to come on and I saw a puff of smoke from his pipe. He quit at about 120 (I think - - my speedo only went to 100 - - watching the tach), so I passed him then slowed back down. He pulled me over so he could see the engine. Then warned me not to exceed 100. What great times.

Hey this was the good old days with no speed limits - - just reasonable. I guess that smokey felt 100 on that God forsaken road (back then) was just fine. He was running the latest in the Olds super 88, highway patrol edition. He was quite upset that I could breeze by him in my little old Chev. I was heading for Pomona drag strip for the weekend. Fun times. Wow, that was an eternity ago, I think.
